Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. voluntarily surrendered to the CIDG at Camp Crame on Monday evening following the Sandiganbayan’s issuance of a warrant of arrest over alleged malversation and falsification of public documents in connection with a P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
He underwent booking, medical checks, and was informed of his Miranda rights, though his detention status has yet to be determined.
The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division found probable cause against Revilla and six former DPWH Bulacan officials, including Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, and RJ Domasig, for releasing funds for a “ghost” project that was never implemented.
Investigations revealed that fraudulent reports and billing documents facilitated the release of P76 million, with Revilla allegedly receiving P125 million in commissions, which he denies.
The case forms part of wider probes into flood control projects involving other officials, while separate plunder complaints are pending against former public works secretary Manuel Bonoan.
