BONG GO PUSHES FOR HEALTH CARDS TO ENSURE EASY ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Senator Bong Go has filed Senate Bill 2983, aiming to provide every Filipino with a health card for easy access to services under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).

The bill seeks to address gaps in PhilHealth registration and reinforce the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law.

While 112.89 million Filipinos are covered by NHIP, approximately 4.52 million remain unregistered, hindering their access to benefits.

Go’s measure ensures that a free health card will be issued to all, which can be used nationwide to avail of health services, with distribution facilitated by local government units.

The bill also emphasizes that the lack of a PhilHealth ID should not prevent anyone from receiving benefits.
