BLACK NAZARENE REACHES QUIAPO CHURCH AFTER 30-HOUR TRASLACION

The Black Nazarene arrived at Quiapo Church on Saturday morning, January 10, more than 30 hours after the Traslacion began, drawing an estimated 7.33 million devotees along the 5.8-kilometer route.

The procession from Quirino Grandstand was slowed by dense crowds, obstacles, and a torn rope, with devotees clinging to the carriage for blessings.

Thousands sought medical attention for cuts, dizziness, fainting, and other health issues, while four deaths, including a photojournalist, were reported.

Despite the challenges, devotees cheered, waved towels, and celebrated the historic return of the revered statue.

The annual Traslacion remains one of the country’s largest religious gatherings, with authorities preparing for crowd-related risks each year.
