Makati City Mayor Abby Binay emphasized the need to shift the country’s health care system towards early detection and prevention rather than costly treatments.
She stressed the importance of prioritizing funding for additional doctors and primary care facilities that offer free services, especially for those in remote areas.
Binay highlighted that well-equipped village health centers would encourage early medical consultations, preventing minor illnesses from becoming severe.
Her city already provides free consultations, laboratory tests, diagnostic services, and medications, including dialysis and chemotherapy for qualified patients.
Binay called for executive and legislative support to make preventive health care a nationwide priority.
