Bacolod City Rep. Albee Benitez is urging the government to conduct a comprehensive review of the country’s infrastructure after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit Cebu on September 30.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that public structures are disaster-resilient to protect lives and property.
Benitez also highlighted the public’s growing distrust of government projects following recent revelations of substandard flood control works by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
He called for accountability for those responsible for poor construction and for steps to prevent future structural failures.
Expressing solidarity with Cebu residents, Benitez assured that the Visayan Bloc is ready to assist the affected communities.
