Racers from Bacolod City made history at the opening leg of the 2026 National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) in Clark by breaking a 12-year-old front-wheel-drive record with a time of 8.824 seconds over 400 meters.
Mark Yanson, Carlo Tinsay, and US-based Omar Crespo competed against nearly 100 entrants, with Crespo’s international tuning expertise proving crucial to the record-breaking run.
Their campaign was supported by Leo Rey Yanson, chairman of the Yanson Group of Bus Companies, helping the team achieve their primary goal of securing an official Philippine record.
While they will not compete in the remaining NDRC legs, the achievement strengthens Bacolod City’s reputation in the national drag racing scene.
The record marks a milestone in Philippine motorsports, ending a record that had stood since 2014.
