Singer Arnel Pineda has left it up to fans of Journey to decide whether he should continue as the band’s lead vocalist following a challenging performance at Rock in Rio in Brazil.
The Filipino artist, who joined Journey in 2007, expressed his disappointment on social media after struggling to hit the notes of their iconic song “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
Pineda, 57, shared that he has been mentally and emotionally affected by the experience and proposed a voting system where fans could choose “Go” or “Stay” regarding his departure, pledging to leave if the “Stay” votes reach one million.
As of now, many fans have expressed support for him to remain, with thousands of comments favoring his continuation with the band.
Pineda previously offered to step aside if former lead vocalist Steve Perry wanted to return, but he affirmed his commitment to Journey as long as they needed him.
