The International Criminal Court (ICC) is anticipated to issue arrest warrants against former President Rodrigo Duterte by mid-year, with subsequent warrants for his daughter Vice President Sara Duterte, and other individuals in subsequent “batches” related to the war on drugs.
Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed that he has been in touch with ICC representatives and expects the warrants to be released by June or July.
The warrants are expected to be issued in batches, with the first batch targeting only Rodrigo Duterte, and the second batch involving other principal actors, including Sara Duterte, Sen. Ronald de la Rosa, and former aide Sen. Bong Go.
Trillanes emphasized that he has been in touch with the ICC since 2017 and has established a relationship with them. This development comes amid the ICC’s investigation into alleged state crimes committed as part of President Duterte’s aggressive counter-narcotics campaign in the Philippines.
