Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has ordered local departments to ensure that the city’s 40 strategically placed pumping stations remain fully operational amid repairs to the Malabon-Navotas River’s navigational flood gate.
Despite the ongoing repairs by the MMDA on the flood gate, Malabon remains safe from major flooding even during heavy rains and high tides.
The City Engineering Department’s Flood Control Division is closely coordinating with the MMDA to monitor the flood gate’s condition and address its mechanical and structural issues.
The city government regularly updates residents with a high tide schedule to help them prepare for elevated water levels.
Cleanup drives and declogging operations are also ongoing to prevent drainage blockages and reduce flood risks.
