Filipina tennis star Alex Eala continues her French Open campaign in the doubles division, advancing to the next round with partner Renata Zarazua after a 7-5, 6-4 win over Emily Appleton and Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers.
Despite trailing early in the first set, Eala and Zarazua rallied back and held momentum to close out the match in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
They will face Anastasia Potapova and Olga Danilovic, who upset the seventh-seeded duo, in their upcoming match this Friday.
Eala’s singles run ended earlier with a three-set loss to Emiliana Arango in her main draw debut.
The doubles success offers Eala another shot at making history at Roland Garros.
