In a surprising twist, Akbayan party-list surged to the top of the rankings in partial and unofficial election results, garnering around 2.2 million votes as of Tuesday morning, May 13.
This marks a dramatic turnaround from pre-election surveys, where Akbayan failed to reach the top 10 and was predicted to fall short of the 2% threshold.
Alongside Akbayan, five other party-list groups have passed the threshold required to secure at least one seat in the House of Representatives.
However, discrepancies in vote counts due to reported duplication errors by the Commission on Elections have led to significant drops in vote totals for several groups, including Akbayan and Duterte Youth.
Despite the inconsistencies, about 80.50% of election returns have been transmitted, and the outcome remains pending.
