Agimat Party-list Rep. Bryan Revilla has filed a bill to expand the Telecommuting Act to include government employees, aiming to ease traffic woes during major rehabilitation works on EDSA.
He emphasized that time lost in traffic means less time with family, and proposed that output-based workers whose presence is not essential be allowed to work from home.
Revilla pointed to the success of telecommuting during the COVID-19 pandemic as proof that remote work can help reduce Metro Manila’s chronic congestion.
He also called on the government to improve public transportation by adding more trains and exploring alternative options for workers who must be physically present.
With EDSA repairs and new traffic schemes ahead, Revilla stressed that addressing traffic is about prioritizing people’s time and well-being.
