AFP HAILS SUCCESS OF 7TH MULTILATERAL EXERCISE IN WEST PHILIPPINE SEA

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) declared the 7th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MMCA) in the West Philippine Sea a success, with the Philippine Navy’s BRP Andres Bonifacio conducting exercises alongside Canada’s HMCS Ottawa.

Despite the distant presence of Chinese warships, the exercise proceeded smoothly within the Northern Luzon Command’s (NOLCOM) operational jurisdiction.

AFP public affairs chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad confirmed that established safety protocols and rules of engagement were followed throughout the drill.

The U.S. contributed to planning and monitoring the activity, while Canada deployed its warship in support of the exercise.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. emphasized that the MMCA strengthens regional security, interoperability among allied forces, and the enforcement of a rules-based international order.
