Eighteen mostly former soldiers have been invited to attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Monday to formally present their allegations of alleged kickbacks delivered in suitcases, Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian said.
He said the session will be the official hearing chaired by Sen. Erwin Tulfo, unlike a previous “unofficial” gathering led by a rival bloc of senators.
Gatchalian added that the witnesses are free to repeat their claims before the formal inquiry, which will also be open to senators linked in the affidavit.
He stressed that the hearing aims to establish the truth and urged all parties to attend for transparency.
He also called for reconciliation among Senate members amid an ongoing leadership dispute.
