Youth environmentalists from SAVE Ph on Wednesday urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fulfill his promises on renewable energy by solarizing schools and addressing climate change.
They criticized the government for failing to act on its climate commitments, noting that many schools could not reopen after Supertyphoon Carina due to inadequate national policies.
SAVE Ph Lead Convenor Zyoen Garcia emphasized that the administration should prioritize transitioning to renewable energy to improve resilience against climate impacts.
The group also challenged Marcos, as chair of the Loss and Damage Fund Board, to push for climate reparations from wealthy nations.
They stressed the need for comprehensive climate mitigation strategies beyond just disaster management.
