The World Bank is providing a USD 700 million loan to support the Philippines Community Resilience Project, which aims to strengthen the resilience of 18 million households against climate and disaster risks.
The total project cost is USD 874.35 million, with the Philippine government contributing the remaining USD 174.35 million.
The project will engage vulnerable communities in identifying hazards and developing resilience plans focused on infrastructure, sustainable livelihoods, and nature-based solutions like agroforestry and erosion control.
It targets 500 climate-vulnerable municipalities across 49 provinces, including many with significant Indigenous populations and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.
Implementation will be led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, emphasizing community-driven development and capacity-building to empower local participation in climate adaptation and disaster preparedness.
