The Visayas Container Terminal (VCT) in Iloilo, managed by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), has upgraded its operations with the addition of two new ESP.5 Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes.
VCT executive director Timothee Jeannin described the cranes as “game changers” for the Visayas market, noting their significant impact on port operations.
The new cranes, the largest of their kind on Panay Island, offer a reach of 46 meters and a lifting capacity of 100 tons, which will improve the handling of various cargo types and boost overall efficiency.
Jeannin also highlighted the terminal’s investment in workforce training to maximize the cranes’ potential.
VCT is also pursuing other enhancements, including berth dredging and infrastructure upgrades, to support regional trade growth.
