Justice Undersecretary Fredderick Vida has been designated as the acting secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s appointment of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla as the next Ombudsman.
Remulla confirmed the transition on Tuesday, saying Vida will serve as officer-in-charge while the President has yet to name a permanent replacement.
Vida, appointed assistant secretary in 2023, currently oversees the DOJ’s finance, administrative, and personnel services.
Remulla’s move to the Office of the Ombudsman came a day after he was shortlisted by the Judicial and Bar Council.
He is set to take his oath as Ombudsman on Thursday, October 9.
