Reigning MVP Nilo Ledama and Ericjay Tangub gave UST an early 2-0 lead, but UP fought back to level the tie before UST sealed the win.
Meanwhile, NU dominated Ateneo with a 5-0 sweep, joining UP in second place.
Adamson also claimed its first win of the season, defeating La Salle 4-1, with Ramon Bentillo delivering a crucial singles victory.
UST remains unbeaten at 2-0, while UP and NU hold identical 2-1 records.
