Sen. Raffy Tulfo made a surprise inspection at the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Quezon City to personally hear complaints from workers facing unfair labor practices.
Among those he met were former W.L. Foods factory workers, Lazada riders, Shopee warehouse staff, and overseas nurses who all reported wage violations, missing benefits, and delayed case resolutions.
Tulfo criticized the slow and repetitive processes at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the NLRC, urging reforms for faster dispute resolution.
He proposed creating “small claims labor courts” under his Wage Theft Bill and suggested that companies with unresolved labor cases be barred from renewing their business permits.
Tulfo vowed to push for additional NLRC staff during budget deliberations to ensure quicker action on workers’ complaints.
