Former PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III clarified that his attendance at a Liberal Party (LP) event was purely to support anti-corruption initiatives and not a political affiliation, as he remains an active police officer.
Torre said he was invited by a friend from Masbate, where he had helped during recent typhoons, and emphasized that fighting corruption transcends political lines.
He was relieved as PNP chief in August by President Marcos amid disputes with the Napolcom over officer reassignments, but remains in service while on leave.
Torre previously made public appearances with LP personalities, including Rep. Leila de Lima, but has not indicated any political plans for 2028.
During the LP event, party president Erin Tañada highlighted the fellowship as a way to promote transparency and renew the vision of governance inspired by former President Aquino.
