The Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 30 has allowed former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. and two co-accused to post bail for their temporary liberty in connection with the 2019 murder of Pacito Libron.
The court set bail at ₱500,000 for Teves and ₱250,000 each for co-accused Richard Cuadra and Rolando Pinili.
The ruling was based on doubts over the credibility of key prosecution witness and former bodyguard Gemuel Hobro, whose testimony contained inconsistencies and admitted issues in his affidavit.
Hobro had claimed that Teves ordered the killing of Libron, allegedly carried out by Cuadra as the shooter and Pinili as the lookout, with Teves providing payment.
Despite the bail approval in this case, Teves remains detained due to a separate non-bailable murder case related to the death of former Governor Roel Degamo.
