P210 BILLION IN MEDICAL CLAIMS PAID BY PHILHEALTH


The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) paid P210.09 billion in medical claims during the first half of the year, with hemodialysis receiving the largest share.

PhilHealth said it reimbursed P48.76 billion for hemodialysis from January to June.

Other major claims included P4.88 billion for caesarean sections, P3.5 billion for chemotherapy, and P3.15 billion for emergency care.

The agency also paid billions for intensity-modulated treatment, animal bite cases, newborn care, normal deliveries, HIV/AIDS treatment, and maternity care.

PhilHealth spent P1.82 billion on Z Benefits claims covering severe and catastrophic illnesses requiring long-term hospitalization and costly treatment.
