Sweden and the Philippines have strengthened their defense cooperation with the appointment of new non-resident defense attachés by both countries.
Sweden named Lt. Col. Anders Nikanorsson as its non-resident defense attaché to the Philippines, based in Bangkok, to enhance defense diplomacy in the region.
The Philippines has also assigned a non-resident defense attaché to Stockholm, signaling a mutual commitment to deepen defense dialogue.
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson recently met with Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. at the Shangri-La Dialogue, reaffirming their shared dedication to regional security and international law.
This growing cooperation reflects both countries’ aim to promote peace and a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific amid shifting security dynamics.
