Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is advocating for all budget deliberations to be livestreamed to the public, promoting transparency.
He supports Concurrent Joint Resolution No. 4, which aims to make the national budget process more open and complements a similar resolution he previously filed.
Sotto emphasized that livestreaming will allow Filipinos to watch budget discussions in real time and review them anytime, increasing accountability.
However, he also stressed the importance of carefully vetting public feedback to protect sensitive information and national security.
Both Sotto and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian agreed that transparency must be balanced with safeguards to prevent misuse of information by foreign or militant groups.
