Several Filipinos were arrested and detained in Doha, Qatar, on March 28, 2025, for suspected involvement in unauthorized political demonstrations, according to the Philippine Embassy.
The embassy confirmed the arrests and stated that it is in contact with local authorities to provide necessary consular assistance.
It also issued a reminder to all Filipinos in Qatar to respect local laws regarding political demonstrations, as advised in a previous advisory from March 13.
The embassy did not provide specific details about the demonstrations or whether they were related to the birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained in the Netherlands.
The embassy is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring the welfare of the detained nationals.
