SENATE ISSUES SHOW-CAUSE ORDERS FOR ZALDY CO, ORLY GUTEZA IN FLOOD PROBE

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has issued a show-cause order against fugitive former congressman Zaldy Co and controversial witness Orly Guteza for ignoring subpoenas in its ongoing investigation into corruption in flood control projects.

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson said failure to satisfactorily respond could lead to contempt charges and eventual arrest warrants.

The committee resumed hearings with key figures, including former officials and contractors, discussing ghost projects, kickbacks, and discrepancies in project documentation.

The Department of Justice is preparing to take custody of certain state witnesses from the Senate to ease detention congestion, while cooperation with the Witness Protection Program remains an incentive.

Senate leaders emphasized that full and truthful cooperation is necessary, with partial compliance deemed insufficient.
