SENATE ISSUES PRE-TRIAL ORDER FOR SARA DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT CASE

The Senate of the Philippines, sitting as an impeachment court, on Monday released the pre-trial order outlining the guidelines and schedule for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte set to begin on July 6.

The order includes trial dates and key agreements reached during the pre-trial conference, while the Senate also announced that limited seating would be available to the public through walk-in registration and online reservations.

House prosecutors expanded their private prosecution panel with the addition of veteran lawyers, including former Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te, along with Reynaldo Robles, Arnold Labay, and Mae Divinagracia.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police said security preparations are in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of the proceedings at the Senate.

Duterte is facing impeachment charges over allegations that include misuse of public funds, unexplained wealth, bribery, and threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
