The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations is set to endorse seven international treaties covering aviation security, space liability, taxation, higher education, extradition, and criminal justice.
Committee chair Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri said the panel will clear the backlog while ensuring the Philippines gets fair terms from its international partners.
He stressed that the treaties will undergo careful review before being approved.
Among the agreements are the 2014 Montreal Protocol on aircraft offenses and a UN treaty that would allow the Philippines to seek compensation for damage caused by space objects.
The committee will finalize its reports before the treaties are sponsored and debated in the Senate plenary.
