Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 16) — SB19 on Wednesday said their first international collaboration with American singer-songwriter JVKE was a big opportunity not only for them but also for the Philippines.
“For our first international collaboration, we definitely would like to put the beautiful Filipino language in there so that’s why we decided to write it in Filipino,” SB19’s Pablo told CNN Philippines’ New Day.
The P-pop kings released their version of JVKE’s hit song “Golden Hour” last month.
“With Golden Hour, we had started trying different collaborations with people from different countries and we had done some research to see who the fans love in the Philippines and it was always SB19, and so we knew we got to reach out to these guys,” JVKE said.
He added that hearing his song in different languages allows him to see the music in a different light.
SB19’s Josh said the group is grateful to JVKE for the collaboration.
On what’s next for him, JVKE said he has been writing new music that he expects to release soon after wrapping up his ongoing tour. He also said he hopes to visit the Philippines to meet his Filipino fans, as well as SB19.
The P-pop group – composed of Pablo, Stell, Ken, Justin, and Josh – recently finished the US leg of its Pagtatag! World Tour and is currently in Canada.
