In a thrilling display of skill and strategy, Satar Salem clinched the Ironman 70.3 Puerto Princesa crown, narrowly defeating China’s Junyu Cao by a mere 48 seconds.
With an impressive performance on the run stage, Salem showcased his fleet-footedness and left no doubt about his readiness for this momentous event.
After emerging from the water in second place and trailing Dutchman Eric van der Linden closely on the bike, Salem unleashed his full potential during the 21.1-kilometer foot race.
In a dramatic finish, he crossed the finish line in a time of four hours, 22 minutes, and 25 seconds, securing the victory and realizing the fruits of his meticulous preparations.
Salem’s relentless pace in the early part of the run allowed him to surpass last year’s winning time set by John Alcala by nearly 10 minutes, solidifying his dominance in the race.
Sharing the winner’s stage with Salem was Leyann Ramo, who delivered a commanding performance in the women’s division.
Leading from the start, Ramo demonstrated her strength and resilience, finishing with a time of 04:57:46 and claiming victory with a remarkable lead of almost 27 minutes over her competitors.
