The Sandiganbayan Third Division has denied former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s second request for Associate Justice Karl Miranda to inhibit himself from hearing his ₱92.8-million malversation case involving an alleged ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
In a resolution dated September 24, the anti-graft court ruled that Revilla’s request lacked sufficient merit.
Revilla had argued that Miranda’s brother, lawyer Buenaventura Miranda, had represented former Public Works undersecretary and state witness Roberto Bernardo.
The court said Revilla failed to present clear and convincing evidence that the justice had acted improperly or demonstrated bias warranting his removal from the case.
The ruling means Associate Justice Miranda will continue participating in the proceedings involving the alleged malversation of public funds.
