Defending champion San Beda University continues to emphasize its “defensive identity” in the NCAA 100 men’s basketball tournament, as highlighted by head coach Yuri Escueta.
The team aims to keep opponents under 60 points per game and has successfully maintained this average, allowing just 62 points in their last two games against rivals Colegio de San Juan de Letran and the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
With a current record of 5-3, the Red Lions focus on the present, looking to cap off Round 1 with a victory in their upcoming match against Mapua University on October 8.
Newcomer Bismarck Lina made his debut for San Beda, contributing one rebound in 12 minutes of play, while teammate RC Calimag added 10 points.
Coach Escueta plans to utilize a larger roster to aid in the team’s long-term development, ensuring that all players feel the NCAA experience.
