De La Salle University’s Sahagun, despite lacking preparation time due to rest needs, powered through body pain to secure a gold medal in the men’s swimming event during the UAAP Season 87 competition.
His determination was evident as he fought off rivals in the final lap to clinch the victory.
Ateneo de Manila dominated the women’s swimming events with impressive performances by Amoguis, Dignadice, and Santos.
The Philippines also excelled in athletics, with victories in men’s discus throw and shotput, including a gold by Sedoripa.
Additionally, Sahagun and Amoguis led their respective 4x100m freestyle relay teams to gold, adding to the country’s medal haul in various sports.
