Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte met with designer Zarah Juan, SPARK! Executive Director Maica Teves, and SBCDPO head Mona Yap to discuss new livelihood projects for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The proposed initiatives aim to help PDLs earn income while serving their sentences and support themselves after release.
The projects will build on the city’s “No Woman Left Behind” and “No Juan Left Behind” programs.
The initiative also seeks to help PDLs reintegrate into the community.
Separately, the city plans to establish a textile upcycling facility at Kamuning Textile Market to promote material reuse.
