QC RECOGNIZED BY WHO FOR PROMOTING HEALTHY, SUSTAINABLE FOOD

Quezon City has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its efforts to promote healthier and more sustainable food environments.

The city received the “Transforming Food Environments: Addressing Policy, Market and Urban Design Drivers of Health and Nutrition” award under the 2026 WHO Healthy Cities Recognition Awards.

QC has promoted nutritious and sustainable food choices in city-run settings, including hospitals, social welfare institutions, and feeding programs.

The initiatives were supported by policies, green public procurement measures, an executive order, and dedicated funding to make healthier food options more accessible to different sectors of the community.

The award was presented during the 11th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities in Sydney, Australia.
