PRESSURE ON DFA TO REPORT CHINA’S ‘ALARMING’ ACTS TO THE UNITED NATION

House Speaker Martin Romualdez has called on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to present China’s recent aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea to the United Nations.

His demand follows the China Coast Guard’s recent ramming of the Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP Teresa Magbanua, marking the fifth such incident this month and raising concerns over international law and national sovereignty.

Romualdez emphasized the need for the Philippines to consider stronger measures, including increasing its maritime presence and reinforcing alliances.

The U.S. and Japan have also condemned China’s actions, with the U.S. urging compliance with international law and Japan expressing serious concern about the repeated dangerous incidents.

Both countries stress the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and adhering to international maritime regulations.
