Malacañang confirmed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally covered the hospital bills of the late National Artist for Film, Nora Aunor.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Senior Undersecretary Ana Puod clarified that it was Marcos and the Office of the President, not the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), that settled Aunor’s medical expenses.
While the specific amount and details were not disclosed, Puod emphasized the President’s role in supporting the late actress.
Aunor, known as the “Superstar” of Philippine cinema, passed away on April 16 at the age of 71 due to acute respiratory failure following angioplasty.
She will be posthumously honored with the Presidential Medal of Merit on May 4, alongside other distinguished figures, at Malacañang Palace.
