President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the urgent need for the passage of the Waste-to-Energy bill during a recent Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council meeting at Malacañang.
He highlighted that this legislation is crucial for addressing flooding in the Philippines, as the garbage problem significantly contributes to flood risks.
Marcos noted that waste-to-energy projects have previously led to a 40% reduction in flooding, underscoring their importance at the local government level.
He pointed out that the measure is not only about waste disposal but has become integral to flood control efforts.
While the House of Representatives has approved the bill on the third reading, its Senate counterpart is still awaiting discussion on the second reading.
