The Philippine National Police served an arrest warrant on controversial contractor Pacifico Discaya, a central figure in the alleged flood-control corruption controversy, while he was in Senate custody.
PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the warrant, issued by a Bulacan regional trial court, was implemented in coordination with the Senate and in accordance with legal procedures.
The case stems from charges filed by the Office of the Ombudsman for alleged malversation of public funds through falsification of public documents involving a flood control project in Bulacan.
Discaya, his wife Cezarah Rowena Discaya, and nine others are facing non-bailable charges, with several co-accused already detained in separate facilities.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to serve arrest warrants on all remaining accused who are not yet in custody.
