The Philippine labor market improved in April 2026 as the unemployment rate declined to 4.7 percent from 5.0 percent in March, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The number of unemployed Filipinos fell to 2.41 million, down from 2.58 million recorded in the previous month.
Despite the monthly improvement, the unemployment rate was higher than the 4.1 percent posted in April 2025.
Likewise, the number of unemployed individuals increased from 2.06 million in the same month last year.
The latest figures indicate a stronger labor market compared to March, although employment conditions have yet to return to last year’s levels.
