Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel III called for a more proactive Philippine foreign policy, urging the country to rejoin the International Criminal Court (ICC) and apply for BRICS membership.
In a privileged speech, he emphasized the need for the Philippines to play a more active role in shaping global affairs.
Pimentel also proposed supporting an expansion of the UN Security Council, developing alternatives to the US dollar for global trade, and strengthening ties with Indonesia in the mining sector.
He stressed that foreign policy decisions impact daily lives and should be a national priority.
Pimentel concluded by urging a unified national stance on international issues to bolster the country’s global influence.
