Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) has surpassed its Phase 1 installation goal for the MTerra Solar project, with 778 MW of solar panels now in place, making it the Philippines’ largest solar installation to date.
The P200-billion project, set across Nueva Ecija and Bulacan, aims to become the world’s largest integrated solar facility with a 3,500 MW solar capacity and a 4,500-MWh battery storage system.
Phase 1 is now 54% complete and on track for early 2026, with full project completion expected by 2027. Once operational, MTerra Solar will power 2.4 million homes and cut 4.3 million tons of carbon emissions annually.
MGen’s rapid progress is backed by major local and foreign investments, including a P150-billion loan and a $600-million deal with UK-based Actis.
