The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will collaborate with the US government to assess how the freeze on foreign assistance will impact the Philippines, Malacañang announced on Saturday.
This follows a move by the US State Department to freeze nearly all foreign aid, excluding emergency food programs and military assistance to Israel and Egypt.
The freeze is part of an executive order issued by US President Donald Trump, which calls for a 90-day pause in foreign development aid to review its effectiveness and alignment with US foreign policy.
The order criticizes the foreign aid industry as misaligned with American interests and values.
The Philippines, which has been the largest recipient of US military aid in the Indo-Pacific region, received over $1.14 billion in military support from 2015 to 2022.
