The Philippine government is finalizing an environmental suit against China for destructive activities in the West Philippine Sea, to be filed with the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.
Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano IV stated that the case, bolstered by extensive evidence, will be ready in a few weeks.
This move follows reports of severe marine damage in Rozul Reef, where Chinese vessels have been implicated in illegal activities causing significant coral reef degradation.
The Department of Justice and environmental experts aim to hold China accountable for violations, including large-scale land reclamation and destructive fishing practices.
The upcoming case underscores the Philippines’ commitment to protecting its marine ecosystems and challenging China’s environmental impact in the region.
