The Philippines made history by winning both the men’s and women’s titles at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The men’s team, led by coach Darryl Suasua, defeated Chinese Taipei 27-12 in the final, while the women’s squad, under coach Samantha Scott, secured a narrow 7-5 victory over India.
These victories earn the Philippines a return to the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series next year. Philippine Rugby Football Union president Ada Milby praised the teams for their dedication, calling the double gold a historic achievement.
Both teams’ success was attributed to intensive training camps and a competitive selection process.
