Rep. Kiko Barzaga has been delisted from the Philippine Army Reserve Force for committing military violations classified as “grave offenses.”
The Army confirmed that Barzaga is now barred from wearing the uniform or joining the regular or reserve forces in the future.
His removal followed social media posts on September 21, where he wore a military uniform and appeared to hint at sedition against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The Philippine Army emphasized that the action was necessary to maintain discipline and professionalism, but it does not reflect on Barzaga’s character as a lawmaker.
Barzaga, who was enlisted just this year as a private, also faces an ethics complaint from his former party over alleged misconduct.
