The Philippines dominated the doubles events at the Phinma International Juniors Tennis Championships held at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City on Sunday.
Wild cards Miguel Iglupas and John Benedict Aguilar won the boys’ doubles title, defeating Hung-Jul Chen and Yu-Hsiang Chuang of Chinese Taipei with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
In the girls’ doubles, second seeds Stefi Marithe Aludo and Kimi Aiyana Brodeth triumphed over their compatriots Jana Jelena Nicole Diaz and Tennielle Madis with a score of 6-4, 1-6 (10-5).
This year’s tournament marked the event’s return since the pandemic disrupted it in 2020.
The championships continue to support promising young players through funding from long-time tennis patron Oscar Hilado and the Philippine Tennis Academy.
