The 1,600-strong Philippine delegation to the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand will don elegant, nationalistic uniforms designed by acclaimed Filipino designer Avel Bacudio during the opening parade on December 9 at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino said athletes will wear red while officials and coaches will be dressed in blue, both adorned with the Philippine flag and POC logo.
Bacudio used locally sourced fabrics made from piña, abaca, bamboo, saluyot, and water lily, handwoven by artisans from various regions, including Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga, and Ilocos.
The collection reflects the unity and heritage of the Filipino people, featuring designs that pay tribute to the nation’s athletes.
The Philippines will compete in all 50 sports across venues in Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
