PH AND JAPAN FACE OFF IN FRIENDLIES AHEAD OF THE 2025 FIVB MEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Alas Pilipinas men’s and women’s volleyball teams will face top Japanese clubs in friendly matches at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City this weekend, marking the one-year countdown to the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. 

The women’s team will play Saga Hisamitsu Springs on September 7 at 3 p.m., while the men’s team will take on Osaka Bluteon at 6 p.m. Both teams will have rematches the following day. 

Philippine National Volleyball Federation head Ramon “Tats” Suzara, recently elected president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation, emphasized the importance of these matches in preparation for the championship. 

The tournament will feature 32 teams, including top contenders like France and Poland, with the Philippines automatically seeded as the host nation.
